5k, 3 Hour, 6 Hour, 12 Hour, and Last Person Standing Trail Races

Welcome to the unique, expansive landscape of Cline Buttes, where the Oregon High Desert gives way to the serrated Cascade peaks. The course offers uncommonly stunning views of the lofty Three Sisters Wilderness to the west and the vastness of the Basin & Range to the east. This location is well-known among locals for unforgettable sunrises, sunsets, night skies, and juniper-scented memories.. all the ingredients of a lovely and challenging weekend! You will certainly find a race time and/or distance that suits you, with 3, 6, & 12 options, as well a 5k race and of course the ‘last person standing’ option!

Course Description
This race will involve a 3 mile loop-style course where runners will repeat the loop as many times to their liking in their time-duration event. Don't be fooled though, the loop will consist of an approximately half-mile climb of over 800 feet to the top of Cline Butte, followed by a joyful, flowing descent… lather, hill, rinse, and repeat again! Runners who opt to run the 3, 6, or 12 hour races will complete as many laps as their hill-addled hearts desire! The Last Person Standing participants will start their loop at the top of the hour for every hour until the last shell of a person remains upon the hill!
The 5k will start with all other events and complete one loop.
The estimated elevation gain for covering 50k is 9,720’. For 50 miles, it is 16,200’, and for 100 miles is 32,400’. Wow!

3:00-5:30 PM: Bib pick-up and check-in at Cline Butte Rock Pit (Cline Direct) Trailhead (start/finish)
5:45-6:00 PM: Race Briefing
6:00 PM: ALL events start!
7:15 PM: 5k race awards (awards for 1st-3rd female, male, and non-binary categories)
9:00 PM: 3-hour ends (awards for 1st-3rd female, male, and non-binary categories to follow at 9:15 PM)
Sunday, May 25th
12:00 AM: 6-hour ends (awards for 1st-3rd female, male, and non-binary categories to follow at 12:15 AM)
6:00 AM: 12-hour ends (awards for 1st-3rd female, male, and non-binary categories to follow at 6:15 AM)
Last Person Standing continues until the last person remains upon the hill!!!
Why Nighttime?
This idea came to fruition as a means to provide runners with an overnight race/event while having the camaraderie, close aid station support, and grassroots feel. Whether you're running this race as a part of training to get ready for your first overnight event, or hungry for some steep and punchy vert, or ready to tackle your longest run yet with the last person standing, we're eager to bring you a challenging and meaningful race in this beautiful part of the world. Oh… and the Central Oregon desert at night is one of the most soul-stirring things you will ever experience!
